Legal Trouble For Katy Perry: Christian Singers SUE Over Song "Dark Horse"
Posted on 3:31 PM by jackline
Uh oh....
Christian singers Flame (born Marcus Gray), Chike Ojukwu, Lecrae Moore and Emanuel Lambert have officially launched a lawsuit against Katy Perry, Capitol Records (and others) for copyright infringement over her #1 hit "Dark Horse".
The singers, behind the 2008 single "Joyful Noise", are claiming Katy ripped off their song but also that she damaged the original track by associating it with "black magic".
Seriously?
The lawsuit goes on to claim Katy exploited and then profited off of the move.
The suit reads:
"And by any measure, the devoutly religious message of 'Joyful Noise' has been irreparably tarnished by its association with the witchcraft, paganism, black magic, and Illuminati imagery evoked by the same music in 'Dark Horse,'"
"Indeed, the music video of 'Dark Horse' generated widespread accusations of blasphemy and an online petition signed by more than 60,000 demanding removal of an offensive religious image from the video."
They're suing for damages and are asking that Katy stop using their music in any way.
