According to a new report, the NFL has approached Katy Perry, Rihanna and Coldplay about headlining the annual sports event but there's a catch:
Would the artist be willing to PAY the league in order to secure a spot??
That's right.
The representatives for the organization has reportedly asked each artist to pay to earn their spot, which not shockingly, has been met with a not so receptive response.
It's actually a smart business move for each artist, as the headliners for the Super Bowl tend to see a massive bump in popularity following the performance. Beyonce announced her "Mrs. Carter World Tour" following hers, while Bruno Mars "Moonshine Jungle" tour catapulted in sales.
Now, while the NFL doesn't normally pay the artists anyways, they do usually cover the production costs and travel arrangements. Those tend to be in the millions of dollars range.
