I've gone through some before, but I've found a new collection that is making me say:

Remember how PopGoesTheArts told you once that Johnny Depp could have been the lead in "Titanic"??
Or how about that Will Smith was offered "The Matrix"??
Pretty crazy right?
Well, get ready for some of these:
Our very own beloved Buffy, Sarah Michelle Gellar was offered the role of Cher in "Clueless", but turned it down. The role would go on to Alicia Silverstone.
James Bond star Sean Connery was offered the role of Gandalf in the "Lord of The Rings" trilogy, but reportedly said no because he "didn't understand the script". The role was then offered (and accepted) by Sir Ian McKellen.
Back to Johnny Depp though.
The actor wasn't just offered the lead role in "Titanic", he was actually on board to play FERRIS BUELLER in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", but had to drop out due to a scheduling conflict. Of course, that would go on to Matthew Broderick, who will always be remembered for the role.
